Even amongst beautiful Turkmen rugs there are few which are more sought after and even impossible to sourced particularly in good usable condition. This pre 1900 antique Turkmen Beshir considers to be one of these wonderful pieces. Measuring 195 x 145 cm ( 6 x 4.7 FT ) , it has an eye catching panels of geometric motifs in the dark brown field surrounded by similarly bands of borders. Beshir rugs mainly made from late 18th until early 20th centuries and their weave and colouring are different to the Tekke Turkmen and Ersari rugs. Their very fine weave and subtle colours makes it difficult to find them in good condition as over the years of heavy usage their colours and thin pile wool become faded and worn. This Beshir rug is one of the rare exceptions were colours remain strong and pile still consistent but low. It has been professionally cleaned and washed with some touches here and there to bring it back to life. Apart of minor areas of localised wear it is in good condition and can lit up any interior.
