Antique handmade village Tekke Turkmen rug circa 1880 measuring 160 x 110 cm ( 5.3 x 3.6 ft ). All over Gul design in deep antique red and brown colours having various abrash wool throughout. The interesting feature about this antique rug is that shades of wool in sections of the rug are different! At first one think the rug was made from sections of different rugs like patch work! However closer observation strongly indicative of rug being made with the different shades of wool with parts of segments tighter than others. looking at the back of the rug also proves the same description with no sewn interference. I love this rug as it is unique and highly decorative. I believe village people in Turkmenistan used their own imagination and woven technique to produce a unique quality. Wool is soft and foundation very fine, being washed and cleaned and salvages redone ready to furnish your room.
