One of the fascinating aspects of sourcing oriental carpets and Kilims, is that at times, unexpectedly you come a cross few unusual and incredibly good-looking pieces were either you do not know much about them or simply refer to them as the flat weave rugs. It is even more fascinating when the name associated with these pieces is from somewhere, you never heard of. This handsome Kilim rug is called Ghorabaei. This name in Persian belonged to past generations and was associated to the secluded people who lived as a group and had hardly any involvement with city people (some similarity with Gypsies). It is only when you look closely, the beauty of these pieces come to shine. Ghorabaei Kilims in fact are referring to the tribes in the villages near the ancient town of Torbat e Ja~m about 160km South West of Meshed Province. Even though the carpet and handmade Kilim weaving from this region mainly related to Blouch rugs and with no obvious long history, however tribes living in the villages around the area have been quite active by making more of the flat weave Kilims and Sofreh for the past few decades. Initially these were made for the personal usage, however due to their popularity, gradually mass production of Kilims and Sofreh became the commercial venture for the inhabitants. This highly decorative Sofreh Kilim Measuring 150 x 143cm (4’9”x4’7embellished diamond patterns in deep reds and black field is one of these discoveries.

Delivery times and charges
Standard deliveries to mainland UK addresses are normally made within 4 working days – Monday to Friday. Deliveries to all international addresses will take longer, but we endeavour to send all orders by the quickest route. For orders delivered outside the UK, we will confirm the anticipated delivery date to you.
Delivery charges are calculated by volumetric weight and length, we, however, please to announce that for certain purchases within the UK the delivery might be free or of minimal charges. Please contact us for further details
