A fantastic and rare in design handmade silk Persian Kashan rug circa 1900 measuring 195 x 125 cm ( 6.3 x 4 ft ). All over Polychrome Boteh field each decorated with motifs in an light green and Ivory background within a madder meandering flowering vine and palmetto border. The quality of the silk and design may have possibly been the work of master weaver Mohtasham Kashani who was very well known making some of the most sought after silk and wool rugs around the same period. This fine decorative piece has defied age with having consistent low pile. It has been professionally steamed cleaned and both end silk fringes redone with edges secured. Apart of few minor wears on the edges rug is in good order considering its age. Please note this is a collectable item and as such needs to be handled with care and dedication. It is not suitable for heavy footfall and must be used in the most desirable place at home where it can be the focal point for the decor purposes. I have seen few of them used as wall hanging as well.
