Although carpet production is a relatively recent occurrence and almost started around the mid 19th century, however after Ushak, Hereke silk carpets have been the trademarks of fine Turkish carpet weaving for quite sometimes. Instantly these rugs were presented to visiting royalty and other distinguished foreign visitors, including Queen Victoria and the Empress Eugenie of France and since, have found their life in any households where an exquisite decorative rugs are of paramount importance. This magnificent and extremely fine Turkish pure Silk Hereke room size rug is definitely part of this heritage. Measures 305 x 200cm (10'x6'6"), It was made around the mid 20th century with having embedded curvilinear central medallion decorated with much detailed of arabesques, floral motifs and other interlinked objects in an eye-catching sky blue main field. As expected from genuine Hereke of this period, there are signed in Arabic Calligraphy along both inner borders.
