This is an extremely rare antique handmade wool Persian Heriz possibly Serapi carpet Circa 1880. Measuring 324 x 255 cm (10.8' x 8.3'), it has a powerful angular central medallion decorated with bold floral and geometric motifs in antique red ,green and ivory colours and surrounded by similarly madder tree objects along the borders. Apart from its powerful presence in both design and weave, it also shows off its incredible Abrash coloured field.It has been professionally cleaned and washed with both ends trimmed and secured. The rug has very minor localised wear with the consistent low pile wirth lovely pastel colours. The weave indicates the rug to be one of the finest made and the rarity in border design in this type makes the rug a very decorative piece.
