Malayer candle design handmade wool rug from Western Iran circa 1910 measuring 195 x 125 cm ( 6.4 x 4 ) circa 1910. Traditional design of repeated candles amongst other motifs in deep indigo background having geometric borders. The candle design typically resembles vertical, flame-like shapes or elongated floral patterns that symbolize light, warmth, and spirituality. Very popular with the Western taste Malayer rugs are durable and very decorative with characters such as motifs, animals etc. This rug has a lovely Abrash blue colours and although 100 years old, remains in good consistent condition being professionally cleaned and washed.
