A beautiful and fine handmade antique wool Turkmen Yamout hatchli rug circa 1890 measuring 158 x 123 cm ( 5 x 4 FT ). 4 crossed panels each decorated with small fish and geometric motifs in a light brown field. The fine and dense weave indicates this Yamout Hatchli rug is one of the finer rugs from the region with vegetable dyed colours. The rug has gone through minor restoration with couple of repairs as well as both ends trimmed and secured. It has also been professionally cleaned and washed. The pile is consistent with minor localised wear commensurate with the age. A very attractive old Turkmen piece with nice decorative look.
