Khamseh tribal rug circa 1900 5.9 x 4.2 ft in Boteh design
A genuine antique Persian Khamseh tribal rug, hand knotted around the turn of the 20th century measuring 180 x 130 cm ( 5.9 x 4.2 ft ).
This highly decorative tribal weaving features a field filled with traditional geometric boteh motifs and stylised floral elements enclosed within richly coloured tribal borders. The rug displays the classic Khamseh palette of deep madder reds, indigo blues, ivory and soft turquoise tones.
Hand woven entirely from wool using traditional techniques, the rug possesses the character and individuality expected from nomadic weaving. The natural dyes have aged beautifully and retain excellent depth and warmth.
Condition:
The rug is in genuine antique condition with age-related wear, low pile areas, edge wear and some fringe loss consistent with over 100 years of use. The wear contributes to its authentic character and decorative appeal. It has been professionally cleaned and washed with both ends secured.
