A quality decorative handmade wool Persian Kashkuli rug as part of Qashqai tribes circa 1920 measuring 180 x 120 cm ( 5.9 x 3.9 ft ). Three central diamond shaped medallions decorated with detailed birds and floral motifs in sky blue background secluded by Burgundy borders having detailed motifs and objects. Such detailed tribal rugs with a specific dense weave normally made by Turkic nomads residing in the South West of Iran who still speak a dialect of Turkish today. The Kashkuli people still lead a semi-nomadic life, mainly based in and around the Iranian town of Shiraz, and migrating into the mountains of the Fars province during the summer months. The rugs and carpets produced by the Kashkuli tribes are renowned as the finest available from the nomadic community and production is very limited. The particular sky blue colours in Abrash rich and lighter are quite eye-catching in this rug. Also the fact that it is in very good condition with maintaining vibrant colours and consistent pile.
