A rare opportunity to own an antique Persian handmade silk Souf Kashan rug circa 1890 measuring 150 x 100 cm ( 5 x 3 ft ). Woven all on a silk foundation this antique Souf Kashan rug has a beautiful all silk raised pile in floral design. Even amongst quality Kashan of late 19th to early 20th centuries there are some which stand out. Either pure flat silk foundations or in this case the raised pile made in the flat cotton and silk flat foundation. The rising floral motifs throughout are giving this rug three dimensional pattern rarely seen in other rug making regions. The condition is bit challenged with patches of wear and tear throughout but the foundation is still strong. Both ends are original and the rug still contains its quality and stunning look. It has been light washed and can bring beautiful colours to any interior. Normally these types priced at minimum 5 to 6K however the condition of the rug reflected on its current price disply.
