Antique Caucasian Georgian Azerbaijan wool rug 5.2 x 5 ft
Genuine antique handmade wool Caucasian rug from the area of Georgia or Azerbaijan circa 1900 measuring 160 x 155 cm ( 5.2 x 5 ft ). Bold geometric medallions with cross like forms in centre having strong madder red field as well as deep blues and light blues. The border pattern has repeating angular devices which also is the characteristic of kazak type rugs. The weave very much similar to Sumac types with low pile but weave is a typical village production than city workshop. Extremely decorative and despite some patches of wear which goes with the age rug has very attractive colour palette which most probably vegetable dyed. It has been cleaned and washed with both ends secured, this rug can add decor to any interior in needs of antique looking theme.
