This splendid pair of Persian silk Kashan prayer rugs was belonging to a private family collection. Almost identical, they measure 200 x 127cm (6'3"x3'9") and 210 x 135cm (6'4"x4') respectively and were made around the first quarter of 20th century. The eye-catching central Vase in all over tree of Life design decorated with densely interlinked open field of arabesques and floral vines enclosed with similarly detailed borders are often seen in silk Kashan rugs belonging to that period, however the luxurious silk and tightly woven foundation being in almost immaculate conditions defines the pair to be as one of the highest quality pieces.
